Fauna Surveys
Astron has a long history of conducting fauna surveys in the Pilbara and Kimberley regions of Western Australia including extensive experience on the offshore islands of the West Pilbara.
Our scientists have extensive ecological experience in wetland and dryland habitats throughout Western Australia and have undertaken a large number of projects in relation to industrial, mining and petroleum developments including desktop assessments, baseline surveys, impact assessments and fauna monitoring programs.
Our personnel can undertake a range of fauna assessments including:
- Desktop fauna studies
- Vertebrate fauna surveys
- Invertebrate fauna surveys
- Fauna habitat mapping
- Declared rare fauna surveys
Astron are also experienced in the development of fauna management plans and ongoing fauna monitoring programs and can assist clients with the development and implementation of these.
The zoologists within Astron have a wealth of field experience and are competent and respected within their field of expertise. All personnel have a high level of understanding of the requirements of federal and state government legislation in regards to the protection and assessment of native fauna including requirements under the Wildlife Conservation Act 1950, Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, Environmental Protection Act 1986, and Environmental Protection Authority Position Statement No. 3.
