Flora and Vegetation Surveys
Astron has over 20 years experience undertaking flora and vegetation surveys throughout the Pilbara, Kimberley and northern Mid-West regions of Western Australia. Current senior Astron personnel have completed in excess of 200 floristic surveys throughout these regions for a wide range of government and private industry clients. Our personnel can carry out a range of assessments and subsequent reporting including:
- Baseline flora and vegetation surveys
- Vegetation community mapping
- Vegetation condition assessments
- Declared rare flora (DRF), priority and threatened flora searches
- Weed surveys, weed mapping and weed management plans
Astron personnel are also highly experienced in the collection of Landscape Function Analysis (LFA) data, having completed similar work for clients such as BHP Billiton, Chevron and the National Heritage Trust. This expertise includes extensive experience in the identification of patch/ inter-patch associations, modes of erosion and soil surface assessments.
Astron employees have a high level of understanding of Government legislation in relation to native flora including requirements under the Wildlife Conservation Act 1950, Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, Environmental Protection Act 1986, Environmental Protection (Clearing of Native Vegetation) Regulations 2004, and Environmental Protection Authority Position Statements No. 2 and No. 3.
