Description
Astron prepared a wide range of environmental management documents for the Gorgon project including Environmental Management Plans, Impact Mitigation Strategies, Position Papers, investigations and surveys. Sub-contracted to the EPCM contractor, KJVG, Astron staff prepared environmental management documentation for the island landing site, the construction village, the concrete batching plant, for black-water re-use, dust, light management, marine operations, oil and chemical spills etc.

Description
Astron was responsible for preparation of Weed, Rehabilitation and Vegetation environmental management plans for the Pluto Project, in addition to biological surveys prepared for the PER which are described elsewhere. Knowledge of the local environment including seeding times, soil peculiarities, micro-climate effects, drainage, weed spread and specialised rehabilitation techniques is essential in arid environments. Astron's unparalleled 20 years continuous experience on the Burrup Peninsula and the coastal Pilbara has provided it with unique knowledge of the biological environment.

Description
Astron prepared an all encompassing Weed Management Plan (WMP) for Chevron's onshore leases on Barrow and Thevenard Islands. The aim of this document was to govern Chevron's operations towards the prevention and management of weed species introductions and spread within the Barrow and Thevenard Island Nature Reserves. Management techniques were chosen in response to species specific attributes, while work practice improvements were made to mitigate weed species spread. Astron has continued to undertake on-going implementation, auditing and update of the WMP since its initial introduction in 2001.
