Description
Astron has undertaken numerous flora surveys on Varanus and Bridled Islands (part of the Lowendal Group of Islands) prior to and since the development of the Varanus Island Oil Terminal. This includes DRF searches, vegetation descriptions, vegetation mapping and consultation for the protection of flora on the Islands. Astron continues to monitor and report on the condition of vegetation of the Islands on an ongoing basis for the purposes of Apache Energy's Annual Environmental Report to the Department of Environment and Conservation. Astron is also engaged to consult on the control and management of introduced species on the Island as well as undertake and monitor revegetation of areas disturbed in the process of Island operations.

Description
Astron conducted a number of flora surveys for Range River Gold
Pty Ltd who have developed a Gold mine near the Mallina Shear Zone
in the Pilbara, Western Australia. The mining approval process for
the project required that a detailed flora and vegetation survey be
conducted. Initial surveys focused in the presence of any DRF,
Priority or Threatened Flora and significant vegetation types.
Astron also
conducted comprehensive vegetation mapping, vegetation descriptions
and further flora surveys for clearing permits and mine
expansion.

Description
Astron has undertaken a significant number of flora surveys on Barrow Island (an ‘A class' Nature Reserve of particular conservation significance) for West Australian Petroleum, Chevron and the Gorgon Project. Astron's senior botanists have undertaken a large number of surveys and assessments for vegetation clearing permits, pipeline route selection and realignment, and baseline biological studies for the proposed Gorgon Gas Production Facility. As well as surveys, Astron routinely conducts and reports on vegetation condition, and is involved in the ongoing control and management of introduced weed species on the island.
