Astron is excited to announce that we have recently signed a contract for a BRAMOR rTK Unmanned Aerial System (UAS).
The BRAMOR rTK is a commercial grade UAS developed in Slovenia by aerospace enterprise and solution provider C-ASTRAL Aerospace Ltd. The company is one of the market leaders in the small unmanned systems (UAS/UAV) and services field and has a global presence, a robust research and development program and advanced integration capabilities.
C-Astral operates a software and hardware laboratory for aerodynamics and systems integration work and a prototyping CAD/CAM workshop facility for composite and metal materials work, modeling and systems integration.
"There is a big opportunity in our space to use technology such as UAVs to complement traditional survey or monitoring approaches so we can make more informed decisions about the management of the environment. We see a myriad of environmental applications, offering extremely valuable data on demand and for a low cost," Astron Managing Director Will Wishart said.
"We’ve seen the ever growing potential for UAVs in environmental survey and monitoring projects for a number of years.
"We undertook our first UAV survey in 2014 with our partner Arvista when we surveyed an island for a client in the Pilbara offshore region using a Sensefly ebee UAV. We flew with both RGB and NIR sensors and from the data we were able to produce a high resolution orthomosiac and digital elevation model of the entire island."
The BRAMOR rTK (PPK Post Processing Kinematic) is ideally suited for surveying and environmental remote sensing, with an industry leading endurance of 2.5 hours it can easily capture 400 ha during each flight.
"We’ll use a number of different sensors including RGB (like a normal camera), near-infrared, red-edge, multi spectral, hyper spectral and thermal cameras on the BRAMOR rTK. Together with state of the art processing software and customised outputs we can offer our clients a unique perspective for applications such as vegetation health assessments, rehabilitation performance monitoring, coastal management, terrain modelling and habitat mapping."
"We have absolutely no doubt that the data we will acquire for clients using the BRAMOR rTK, together with the processing and delivery of actionable information is going to revolutionise many aspects of environmental management," explains Will Wishart.
