Pilbara Weed Notes
The introduction and spread of weeds poses one of the biggest threats to Australia's natural environment. Weeds displace native species changing the natural diversity of ecological communities leading to further habitat degradation.
Having worked extensively in the Pilbara over the past 30 years we have witnessed a significant increase in the abundance and distribution of weeds as a result of increasing human activities in the environment, such as land development, mining and agriculture.
Once weeds are present, early detection and eradication, control or containment is essential to prevent further spread. To assist land managers identify weeds that commonly invade disturbed areas in the Pilbara we are freely releasing our Pilbara Weed Notes series.
You can download the entire guide here (containing 30 of the most notable weeds in the Pilbara) or click on the images below to download a handy PDF version of each species. Together we can stop the spread!
